Whether you’re dreaming of wildflower fields, orchard blossoms, or pastel florals, this guide helps Utah families choose the perfect flower locations in Utah for family photos based on blooming season, lighting, and color – so your photos feel elevated, timeless, and beautifully you.
Cherry Blossoms in Salt Lake City, UT

Cherry blossom season in Utah is short but incredibly beautiful, making it the perfect backdrop for soft, ethereal family photos in the spring. Located at the Utah State Capitol building in Salt Lake City, these blossoms make for the perfect pastel background. Bloom times vary year to year, usually peaking between late March and early April, which is why planning and flexibility are key when looking for family photos with cherry blossoms.
These flowering trees create a light, airy look that photographs best in gentle morning or evening light and pair beautifully with neutral, pastel, or soft textured outfits. For families, cherry blossom sessions offer a calm, timeless setting that feels elegant without being overwhelming – capturing the sweetness of spring while preserving this fleeting season before the petals fall.
For your own cherry blossom family photos, timing, planning, and patience will be key as this location is very popular and you will typically run into crowds at peak bloom. With my knowledge, patience, and planning skills, I help make the process as easy as possible by guiding you through planning and your session for the most stress-free experience.
Orchard blossoms in Utah County, UT

Spring orchard photos in Utah offer a fresh, bright backdrop for family portraits, with flowering trees typically blooming from mid-April through early May depending on the weather that season. These orchards are located in Utah County, with one being in Santaquin at Rowley’s Red Barn and the other in Provo by the Utah State Hospital. These orchards provide soft, natural light and delicate blossoms that photograph beautifully.
There are two things to note about the orchard in Provo: the hospital requires a donation of $20 to photograph in the orchard, which is paid at the Heninger Administration building – however, if you are booked with me, this is included in your session fee. The orchard also has seasons where it does not bloom (for example, this last spring 2025). It’s best to check in on it from time to time in early spring to ensure blooms before planning your session if you are hoping for blossoms.
Orchard sessions are ideal for families in Utah County for relaxed, natural moments where children can move freely while parents enjoy the fresh air and open setting. With the right timing and planning, orchard photos in Utah capture the beauty of spring while preserving your family’s connection and emotion among the fresh colors of Utah’s spring orchard blossoms.

Poppies in Utah County, UT

Lambert Park in Utah County is a stunning location for summer family photos, especially when the poppies are in bloom. The bright orange and red flowers create a vibrant, natural backdrop that adds warmth and color to every portrait. The best time to visit is typically late May through early June, to catch peak bloom and soft, flattering light. For families, poppy field sessions offer a relaxed, playful environment where children can explore and parents capture authentic moments together. But if you miss the poppies, Lambert Park is still gorgeous with glowing light and summer greenery.
Either way, your family session here results in timeless portraits with glowing light and soft color that your family will look back on with joy for years.
It is important to note that this is a highly popular area during poppy season, making it difficult to avoid crowds, so patience and timing really come into play at Lambert Park. To make things as easy for you as possible and create poppy family photos that fill you with joy, I’ll help guide you through your session with patience, knowledge, and strategic placement.
Lavender fields in Utah

Lavender fields are one of the most loved locations in Utah for family photos, and it’s easy to see why. These sessions are perfect for families who want their photos to be soft with pastel color and have an ethereal feel. With the right timing and gentle evening light, lavender fields offer a beautiful backdrop that keeps the focus on your family’s connection while creating artful, soft images you’ll be excited to share and hang in your home.
