The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines touchstone as “a fundamental or quintessential part or feature.” And if I had to name the touchstone of my life — and of my work — it would be that.

Growing up, my family didn’t have family photos hanging on our walls. Life was too full, too overwhelming, and honestly, too chaotic. My mom preserved many memories of us through home videos and snapshots that I treasure deeply now, but we never had that complete family portrait on the wall.

And even as a child, I felt that absence in ways I couldn’t explain then.

I craved that feeling of togetherness.
That feeling of being rooted somewhere.

The quiet reassurance of seeing your people every day and knowing:
This is my home.
These are my people.
I belong here.

That became the foundation of Christina Lynn Portraits.
