Cherry Blossoms in Salt Lake City, UT

Cherry blossom season in Utah is short but incredibly beautiful, making it the perfect backdrop for soft, ethereal family photos in the spring. Located at the Utah State Capitol building in Salt Lake City, these blossoms make for a timeless pastel background. Bloom times vary year to year, usually peaking between late March and early April, but sometimes earlier or later, which is why planning, timing, and flexibility are key when looking for family photos with cherry blossoms. In spring 2026, the cherry blossoms bloomed much earlier than usual due to the mild winter, around March 19th, and were gone within two weeks by the end of the month.
These pink flowering trees create a light, airy look that photographs best in gentle morning or golden evening light and pair beautifully with neutral, pastel, and soft textured outfits. For families, cherry blossom sessions offer a calm, timeless setting that feels elegant without being overwhelming — capturing the sweetness of spring while preserving this fleeting season with your family before the petals fall.
For your own cherry blossom family photos, timing, planning, and patience will be key as this location is very popular and you will typically run into crowds at peak bloom.
Planning cherry blossom photos doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.
I help Utah families choose the right bloom timing, location, and what to wear so everything comes together beautifully — and we don’t miss them!

The Utah State Hospital owns a white blossoms orchard in Provo, Utah, which requires a donation of $20 to photograph in it, paid at the Heninger Administration building — however, if you are booked with me, this is included in your session fee so you never have to stress about it.
You can find the orchard blossoms blooming early-to-mid-April to early May. It does have seasons where it does not bloom (for example, last spring 2025), so it’s best to check in on it from time to time in early spring looking for buds on the trees before planning your session if you are hoping for blossoms. I do this every season so that I am prepared for spring family photos!
Rowley’s Red Barn in Santaquin, Utah is a free to access orchard, with plenty of parking and space to spread out. The white blossoms typically bloom end of April to early May. Due to it being free to access, it can get crowded here with other families enjoying the blossoms and getting family portraits, but there are several rows of trees so be sure to choose a skilled photographer that has experience photographing in crowds. I ensure all my clients get gorgeous images here without feeling any stress or chaos!
The pink peach blossoms at Cherry Hill Farms in Santaquin, Utah and Alpine, Utah bloom earlier than the previous orchards do, typically starting mid-to-late March and ending early April, sometimes end of March if the winter season was extremely mild, like this past winter 2025-2026. This spring season 2026 we saw peach blossoms bloom early mid March and disappear by the end of the month.
Orchard sessions are ideal for families in Utah County for relaxed, natural moments where children can move freely while parents enjoy the fresh air and open setting. With the right timing and planning, orchard photos in Utah capture the beauty of spring while preserving your family’s connection and emotion among the fresh and bright colors of Utah’s spring orchard blossoms.
